Launching Leadersbusiness

My Favorite quotes from Launching Leaders:
If you can become a master of communication, you will immediatley become a valuable addition to any organization or business" I love this quote because it helped me understand why I have had the callings I have had. I always feel like I am given callings that are time demanding and hard for me. Reading this section of effective communication and storytelling really helped me see that I have these callings because I am a good communicator. One of the things I appreciate about Launching Leaders is how the stories are woven through the text to help the reader understand the context and benefit of what is being taught. In stead of just giving you the formula for success, the Author tells a story about when he met Elder Haight on a ferry. Then he tells About J. Paul Getty and the kind of person he was. After the stage has been set, only then does the Author share the actual formula.
The formula is the combination of David B Haight's 3 steps for success and J. Paul Getty's 3 steps for sucess: 1. get up early 2. Work hard 3. Get your education 4. Find your oil 5. Make your Mark 6. Give back
I want to remember Fanny Crosby Fanny, The Woman who wrote the lyrics to give said the little stream became blind when she was only 6 weeks of age due to medical malpractice. And yet, what might seem like a challenge prepaired her to give back to the world by writing more than 8,000 inspiring hymns and songs of praise. The tragedy that took away her eyesight did not deter her passion or her ability to discover the greatest purpose of her life. She said this about her blindness: "It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I minght not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me. Oh how I would love to see a vision of Fanny after she passed through the veil.
